Savanah & Spencer

How We Met

Spencer and Savanah met in January of their sophomore year at Texas A&M University. That same weekend, Spencer had all of his high school friends in town visiting. It turned out to be a long and memorable weekend for Savanah and her roommates, Julie and Erin.

The final stretch came on Saturday night, when Erin rallied everyone to go to a fraternity party — naturally. Spencer wasn’t in a fraternity at A&M, but one of his friends was a Fiji, which gave him and his group the green light to tag along (shoutout to Manolo Bustamante).

As the party wrapped up — in the middle of nowhere, with no Ubers working — Erin spotted Spencer talking with his friends and walked right up to ask him to order a ride for a group of total strangers. Unsurprisingly, Spencer said no. But something about Savanah caught his eye, and before they all parted ways, he asked for their contact info in case they wanted to catch up later.

The next day, Spencer texted Savanah and asked her to grab coffee and go on a study date. They've been inseparable ever since. If you ask Spencer what made him reach out, he'll tell you he heard the most genuine and unmistakable (and loud) laugh leave her mouth while Erin was asking him for a ride — and he couldn’t forget it.

By February, Spencer and Savanah were officially dating and quickly began to fall in love. After two and a half years together in College Station, Spencer proposed on May 11th — just one day before they jetted off to Europe to celebrate both his graduation and their engagement.

After returning home, the couple moved to Austin, which is where Spencer grew up. Savanah finished her final college classes online while working in Austin that summer and graduated in August. After the wedding, the two will move in together and continue building their life in Austin.

Over the last three and a half years, Spencer and Savanah have grown in their faith, their goals, and their commitment to one another. They are incredibly grateful to have found each other — by the grace of God (and, of course, Manolo Bustamante) — and are committed to keeping Christ at the center of their marriage.

The Lord is the reason they have each other — and the reason they’re surrounded by so many friends and family who have played such an important role in their story.
